Abstract
Mental health was defined by the WHO as “a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.” There is a reciprocal relationship between mental and physical health. The burden of mental disorders is massive, as the Lancet’s systematic analysis, depicted that 970.1 million people worldwide suffered from a mental disorder in 2019. Mental disorders are widely presented among patients attending primary health care which is the first point of contact with patients in the health system. Therefore, early detection of mental disorders by primary health care physicians (PHCPs) will be of utmost importance and will act as an entry and referral point for specialized care and better management.
AIM OF THE WORK:
Assess knowledge, attitude, practice, and self- efficacy of primary health care physicians concerning mental disorders.
This will be a baseline for planning an educational and training program for PHCPs concerning mental health care.
